If you love cheese and prehistoric caves, then plan a trip to Cheddar Gorge! This is a large outdoor attraction that boasts two show caves, Cox's Cave and Gough's Cave. The 9,000 year old skeleton of Cheddar Man, the oldest complete skeleton ever found in Britain, was found in Gough's Cave. Today you can tour the caves on your own with an audio guide and admire the geological formations. The prehistory museum at the site shows some artifacts and a replica of Cheddar Man. You can also purchase cheddar cheese that has been aged for 12 months inside Gough's Cave!

Along with admission to the caves and museum, your ticket includes an open-top bus tour of the gorge, along with access to the Lookout Tower atop the gorge. You can buy your tickets online and receive a discount.

For those of you who are more adventurous, you can book a Cheddar Gorge Xtreme experience and participate in rock climbing or adventure caving, but you must call to reserve this.
